                                                      Rodgersia 'Firework'
Rodgers Flower.  Rodgersia pinnata 'Fireworks' is a late-flowering, gorgeious plant for shade. Its bold, divided foliage is rimmed in red, and dusky red flower stems carry scarlet plumes. Majestic with larger ferns.

Rodgersia is an East Asian genus of about six species closely related to Astilbe. They are grown for their huge, leathery leaves resembling a horse chestnut tree; their showy, early-summer flowers; and their preference for shade and damp soil. Flowers are followed by red fruits.  They create a dramatic effect with tall flower spikes high above the lush foliage in summer. They are best grown in moist soil in a shady location.  G1

36" tall by 24-30" wide.  Zone 5.  Part shade.  Performs best in cool, moisture retentive soil and partial shade. Will tolerate sun if the soil is continually moist.

                                                      Trollius x cultorum 'Lemon Queen'
Globeflowers are extremely popular perennials, bursting into color in late spring and early summer. This selection has lemon-yellow double flowers and a nice compact habit. Provides bold color in a shady area.  Sometimes called Buttercups, these grow well in a sunny or part-shaded border, also at the edge of a moist woodland. Flowers will last a few days when cut. Shear plants back after blooming to encourage a flush of new leaves to last through the summer. Clumps may be easily divided in fall or early spring. G1
